Re-building the Huff

Welcome

This site is the place to be to find out all you need about the restoration project of the Huff of Arlow.

On your left you can watch a film made in partnership with various volunteers support groups who have helped EISCA delivering some brilliant workshops around the Rame Peninsula in order to bring the Huff of Arklow restoration closer to this special community of seamen and boatbuilders. The film is divided in three parts:

1) Uffa Fox sings a sea shanty whilst in the background runs a slideshow of Uffa's visit to Sweden in the boat that he designed, built and sailed there, the 22 sM "Vigilant" now part of the EISCA's collection.

2) The local families of the Rame Peninsula with home-schooled and primary school children, enjoying learning about sailing boat displacement&design whilst making their own boats by using recyclable material collected on the local beaches.

3) The "Huff of Arklow" restoration project in pictures showing EISCA's apprentices learning the NVQ level 2 apprenticeship in boatbuilding whilst restoring Huff.
